Volunteer Drivers Needed at Sterling House

The Sterling House Resource Connection Program is looking for drivers to help pick up donated food during the Holiday season (locally- schools, businesses etc.). Must have CT license, be able to lift 23-50 pounds at a time and help bring product down a few basement steps. Small Sterling House van is available. The Resource Connection current needs include:

 DIAPERS-ALL SIZES

Canned ravioli

Boxes of macaroni and cheese

Jars of Pasta Sauce

Tuna

Peanut butter

Flavored rice (e.g. Rice a Roni, Lipton)

Instant boxed potatoes (all types)

Cans of baked beans/pork and beans

Pancake mix and syrup

Dry milk

Jelly/Jam

Cold and hot cereal

Condiments: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, relish

Canned fruit

Canned meals: ravioli, hash, beef stew

 

PET FOOD- DRY (3.5-5LB BAGS)

Donations of non-perishable food, dairy, frozen & seasonal items welcome. Monetary donations & store gift cards welcome; the Pantry is primarily stocked with canned vegetables, soups, sauces, stew, tuna and fruits, pastas, tomato sauce (can or jar), powdered milk, cereal, rice, macaroni & cheese, single-serving items and some frozen items on occasions (hot-dogs, turkeys, bread and/or rolls). This past summer a group of volunteers initiated a community garden which will provide fresh vegetables for the pantry during the growing season. The pantry is funded by monetary and food donations and grants from foundations and corporations.
