Established in 1992, the pantry is located in the basement of Sterling House Community Center which was renovated 10 years ago as a result of CDBG funding through the town of Stratford; a facility which includes a waiting room, intake office and food sorting/distribution rooms.
The Sterling House Resource Connection Program offers assistance to individuals and families with basic needs through a wide range of services including food, information and referral, and employment. We organize these services for families, individuals, groups and organizations in a time of crisis.
SERVICES OF THE STERLING HOUSE RESOURCE CONNECTION PROGRAM INCLUDE:
FOOD PANTRY – Emergency food assistance is provided to individuals and families; mostly non-perishables but at times meats and produce. A variety of food is provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 2-3 days; clients can visit pantry once per month unless circumstances warrant this to be more often.
The Sterling House Resource Connection (Food Pantry) hours are:
Tuesday 1-3 pm, Wednesday 1-6 pm, and Thursday 1-3 pm
GOOD START PROGRAM – New back packs with new school supplies are distributed to youth at the beginning of the school year; donations of new back packs and a variety of school supplies accepted from June 1st to August 15.
STERLING HOUSE DIAPER BANK– New program, donations of all size diapers welcome. Monetary donations & store gift cards welcome.
PAWS PROGRAM (Paws Across Stratford) – mostly canned & bagged cat & dog food. Donations welcome, monetary & store gift cards welcome.
THANKSGIVING BASKET PROJECT-Provide the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner to Stratford families. Donations welcome, monetary & store gift cards welcome. List of items available by November 1st.
HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE & ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROGRAM – During the holiday season gifts are distributed to children and youth in need from Stratford; registration of families in need begins in November and gifts are distributed in December.
